Tulika

An Esteemed Procrastinator and Reading Junkie

Well, I am the sole inheritor of an unending addiction to books in my family. I am in my final year of M.A. in Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies, not that it matters or is helpful.

But you know what is helpful?

A novel.

I love reading novels with a passion that I am certain I cannot do a living being. Books are an escape from the chaos for me, my happy place. In my experience, there are two kinds of books in the world that count really: one that makes you read more, and one that makes you write more.

So in the event I do get tired of reading, I might be writing. Or procrastinating over writing. I'd take YA/NA contemporary fiction and fantasy over classics any day, or basically whatever has a sprinkle of romance in it. Though I do worship Austen. But who doesn't?

This quote resonates with me so much. In a world of non-understanding family and confusedly accepting friends, these words feel like home. Because...We do not just love these fictional worlds, do we? We live in them, breathe their stories, feel the emotions of the several characters. The effects of these vicarious experiences don't leave any visible marks on us, but we do bear them. Those stories become part of our stories, and I think that's hard but important to understand.
